Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy’s gentle touch enables the body to re-balance and restore function.

Bowen Therapy in WhitstableIntroducing Bowen
Bowen therapy is fascial release technique. Gentle and non-invasive, it is suitable for babies, adults and children. Rolling type moves are made with thumb and fingertips on precise points, enabling the body to re-balance and restore function. Developed by Tom Bowen in Australia in the 1950s, Bowen therapy has grown from strength to strength since arriving in Europe in the early 1990s.

What to expect from Bowen treatment
What makes Bowen therapy unique is there are no manipulations, needling or adjustments and the whole experience is gentle, subtle and relaxing. Treatment is given over light clothing.

Treatment is carried out at a relaxed, focused pace with some 2 minute pauses, allowing the nervous system to absorb the work, before new moves are made. A Course of 3 treatments is usually enough to resolve most common issues. Chronic conditions may take longer, depending on the individual case history. For Sports performance maintenance & for healthy work-life balance, top-up treatments are recommended.

Bowen has been observed to help with:
Chronic and acute sports injuries and back pain; sciatica; frozen shoulder; tennis elbow; jaw pain; fibromyalgia; and general aches & stiffness. Joint hypermobility syndrome (JHS/EDS) as well as general pain management. Whiplash, migraines, headaches, asthma, hay-fever, allergies, sinus, stress and anxieties. Menstrual and hormonal issues, fertility, pregnancy, baby colic, digestive and sleep issues, and bed-wetting.

Additional benefits:
Improved quality of sleep, mood elevation, increased energy, increased ability to concentrate and focus, general relaxation and a more positive outlook.

A growing number of professional sports people are discovering that regular Bowen work enhances performance and reduces the incidence of injury. And that when injury does occur, especially soft tissue damage, Bowen brings rapid relief and a quick return to their sport.

As treatment progresses, the CNS (central nervous system) awakens the problems areas to help regain function and coordination. Then, the CNS is able to globally affect function elsewhere in the body.

Note: Always speak to your GP first, especially where you have concerns about your health condition. Most GPs know about and understand the benefits of Bowen therapy.
